" This exhibition means an enourmous amount because it is largest exhibition I've ever had, 11 rooms in the Fondation Louis Vuitton . Some of the very last paintings I'm working on will not be included in it, and I think  it's going to be very good"
David Hockney

In the Spring of 2025, the Fondation Louis Vuitton  is inviting David Hockney, one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, to take over the entire building for an exhibition that will be exceptional in its scale and its originality.

"The great French playwright decreed that collectors could be divided into two categories. There are window collectors who need to show off their objects, and wardrobe collectors who hide theirs. I certainly belong to the second category, not out of egoism but because to me the act of collecting is something intimate, something that requires a certain calm, a certain silence in order to exist."

Wet Rooms, refers to the darkroom in which the artist develops her photographs. She works exclusively with analogue photography, pushing the limits of its technical possibilities by creating 1:1 prints. An intimate space, marked by the presence of chemical baths essential to the unveiling of the image, it is also a space of solitude and silence in which the artist reconstructs her vision of the world.
When working on her large-format photos, she uses magnets to hold the paper aganist the metal wall in the dark-room. This surface frequently appears in her images.

In this exhibition, Body & Soul, the first paradox or advent is to make visible what we have tried to make invisible; the exhibition gives pride of place to African and Afro-American artists who have long been rejected by the dominant presentation, civil rights fighters, jazzed up bodies liberating themselves from the underground.
what does it mean to inhabit a body in a world in tension?
Arthur Jafa's "Love is the Message, the Message is Death", a very moving film with some scenes that are truly shocking to see the wickedness of human beings.Jafa traces the history of African Americans in the twentieth century through a collage of images, both older and more recent, depicting a collective body that exists beyond space and time.
